Kindergarten Registration Now Under Way

Parents are being urged to register their keiki now for kindergarten or pre-kindergarten for the upcoming school year, which begins Aug. 5.

Children who will be 5 years old by Aug. 1 should enroll in grade K, while those who turn 5 by Dec. 31 can enter junior-K. (Neither class is mandatory in Hawaii.)

Some schools have completed their open registration period; others conduct parent orientations. East Oahu families should contact their neighborhood school for specific details, or call the Honolulu District office at 733-4950 for assistance. For health requirements, registration documents and junior kindergarten, visit doe.k12.hi.us/parents.

The 2012-2013 school year ends May 24.
