Easter Brunch, Bunnies, Eggs And More
Whether you celebrate Easter in the religious sense or are just looking forward to an visit from the Easter Bunny, the holiday can be a fun time for family. From church services to brunches and bunnies, here is a brief roundup of some of the Easter fun offered in West Oahu:
* Stop by Kapolei Commons to find some of the more than 4,000 prize-filled eggs that the Easter Bunny has hidden during the center’s third annual Easter Egg Hunt from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. The egg hunt will be split up by age groups: ages 1-3 at 10:30; ages 4-7 at 11 a.m.; ages 8-12 at 11:30 a.m. Parents are allowed to accompany children age 3 and under. The event also will feature face-painting and arts and crafts. The Easter Bunny will attend to pose for photos with keiki.
Kapolei Commons also sponsors a coloring contest for ages 3 to 10.
Entries will be judged for creativity, use of color, and must feature three eggs. They must be dropped off at Kapolei Commons by Saturday (or postmarked by March 22). Entries should be sent to Kapolei Commons, Attention: Coloring Contest, 1288 Ala Moana Blvd., #208, Honolulu, HI 96814.

* The JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa at Ko Olina serves an Easter brunch buffet at Naupaka Terrace with eggs Benedict, prime rib, lamb and a seafood bar. Brunch costs $55 for adults and $20 for children, and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. For more information or reservations, call 679-0079 or visit ihilani.com.
And, if you’re planning a stay-cation at Ko Olina for Easter weekend, guests also can join in an egg hunt and other Easter games.
* St. Nicholas Episcopal Church in Kapolei hosts Easter services throughout the weekend, beginning with a Good Friday service 7 p.m. Friday, which includes Stations of the Cross, and continuing with worship at 8:30 and 10 a.m. Sunday.
After the 10 a.m. service Easter Sunday, the church will have children’s activities, including an egg hunt and a tour of Nazareth Town. A potluck brunch also will be served.
St. Nicholas Episcopal Church is based at Island Pacific Academy at 909 Haumea St. in Kapolei.
* The Filipino Community Center in Waipahu sponsors its “Salubong” Easter Presentation from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, featuring entertainment, food and games.
