LCC Job Fair Features Companies, Colleges And Workshops

Soon-to-be graduates, prospective college students and job seekers can look forward to Leeward Community College’s Career College & Job Fair, set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 11.

The fair currently is in its 11th year, and is expected to attract 65 potential employers and approximately 1,200 attendees. Additionally, about 85 recruiters and 25 colleges and programs also will participate.

A program dedicated high school students is expected to bring in more than 300 students from Leeward and Central Oahu schools.

Students who attend will engage in a one-hour session in which they learn about career pathways, how to interact with job recruiters at the fair, college life and different types of financial aid for education after high school.

Refreshments will be provided for students, courtesy of the Hawaii National Guard.

“Transportation is the largest cost incurred and is usually not covered by school budgets,” said Angela Coloretti, career and technical education assistant. “This year, funding from GEAR UP Hawaii and the Job Prep Services office will bring students from Campbell, Castle, Kapolei, Leilehua, Mililani, Nanakuli, Pearl City, Radford, Waianae and Waipahu high schools.”

Some of the participating companies are ABC Stores, First Hawaiian Bank, Jack in the Box, Tanioka’s Seafoods & Catering, and Young’s Market Company of Hawaii.

Attendance is free and open to the public.
