Readers Theatre Has ‘RED’ Play
Windward Readers Theatre will present John Logan’s 2010 Tony Award winner RED in three performances next week at Pohai Nani auditorium.
The free spring shows are a collaboration of Windward Arts Council and Na Hui O Pohai Nani, and community theater veteran Vanita Rae Smith will direct. Award-winning local actor Peter Clark plays the “angry and brilliant” artist Mark Rothko with Scott Francis Russell as his young assistant. Rothko has been described as “an old lion who will keep roaring until he draws his last breath.”
Shows are at 7 p.m. April 2 and 4, and at 2 p.m. April 7 at Pohai Nani, the highrise retirement facility on Namoku Street, overlooking Kaneohe. Calabash offerings are welcome to pay for play royalties, and reservations are suggested to 254-4885. Parking is free on the grounds.
