Hahaione Earns Its Baccalaureate
The Kaiser Complex schools are positioned for great learning with all grades now covered by recognized baccalaureate programs.
Last month Hahaione Elementary School joined Kaiser High and Niu Valley Middle schools in earning distinction as a fully authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, covering the primary years from preschool through grade 5.
“This means a child may begin in the Primary Years Program and continue in an IB program through high school graduation,” said Cindy Giorgis, principal of 500-plus Hahaione students. “We are the first public schools to offer this in Hawaii,” she proudly noted.
The IB label signals that a school is committed to “high quality, challenging, international education” – something that Giorgis and her faculty worked hard on for more than three years. Currently there are only eight schools in the state, five of them public, to have earned this honor.
