Yoga Festival Drawing Experts, Health Advocates To Kahuku
Breathe in the fresh air, feel invigorated by the ocean, step onto a paddle-board and … do yoga! Wanderlust yoga festival, which travels the world, comes to Kahuku Feb. 28-March 3, offering every variety of yoga, as well as performances, local music, nature walks, surfing and hula lessons, lectures, craft and food vendors, farm-to-table dining and more.
Based at Turtle Bay Resort, the festival gives yoga novices and experts a chance to learn from the experts, with pass options starting at $108 per day. Yoga master Shiva Rea will lead courses from Vinyasa flow to Yoga Trance Dance. Fellow yoga expert, athlete and surfer Eoin Finn will guide seekers through everything from yoga foundation and alignment principles to surfing. The two are among more than 30 health and healing professionals on the festival agenda.
Highlighting the lineup are “Meditation – Get into the Vortex With Your Blissed-out Self,” “Wholehearted Hooping Basics,” “Nutrition Consultation” and “Bhakti Flow.” There also are classes for the more intrepid, such as Intro to Slackline Yoga. Slacklining is a niche sport that demands excellent balance on a line that is one-inch thick and strung between two trees or anchor points. Incorporate yoga into the mix, and this is for the limber and acrobatic.
According to the website, even the lectures are not “stuffy,” but rather “informal conversations that take place in an intimate lounge setting.”
The festival’s mission is to celebrate mindful living, which includes practicing yoga, eating well and being green for the purpose of healing the spirit and being responsible stewards of the earth.
