Working Together For The Children

Daughters of the Nile is a nonprofit, charitable fraternal organization for women. It is comprised of women who are related to a member of community service organizations Shriners International or The Masonic Fraternity, or a member of Daughters of the Nile or other Masonic-related organizations.
It was founded in 1913 in Seattle, and our members now total more than 30,000 in 143 cities throughout the United States and Canada. Egyptian Temple No. 33, founded in 1926, is the local organization of Daughters of the Nile.
The members of Daughters of the Nile provide support for Shriners Hospitals for Children, a network of 22 hospitals throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico that specializes in orthopaedic conditions, burn injuries, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate conditions.
Daughters of the Nile contributes more than $1.5 million each year to Shriners Hospitals for Children to be used for the medical care and rehabilitation of children. Since 1924, Daughters of the Nile has contributed almost $50 million.
Each year our members give their time and talents by volunteering at Shriners Hospitals for Children-Honolulu located on Punahou Street. They sew clothing and quilts, provide toys, books, games and other educational and recreational items, and hold monthly birthday parties. The “sewing ladies” group has sewn print pillowcases for the patients at the hospital. Donations of fabric are always welcome!
Egyptian Temple’s members will welcome supreme queen Suzie Schumacher of Zuleima Temple 13 in Ashland-Medford, Ore., to the Islands Feb. 17 when she makes her official visit.
Egyptian Temple is proud of our record of generosity and is dedicated to our philosophy of “working together for the children.” By continuing our unwavering support of Shriners Hospitals for Children, Daughters of the Nile are doing our part to help children lead better lives.
