Clubhouse Stages Garage Sale
The Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii’s Windward Clubhouse will run a benefit garage sale Feb. 9 in an actual garage – the Kailua Town Center parking garage.
The fifth annual event will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day and also will offer plants grown by clubhouse keiki and banana bread baked by members of its Leaders in Training program – at $4 per loaf. Proceeds from all sales will support the group’s ongoing art programs as well as staff salaries and supplies.
At this point, organizers still seek quality items such as clothing, tools, books, handbags and toys, but cannot accept baby furnishings, exercise equipment, large broken furniture, mirrors without frames, old TV sets or computers. Unsold items will go to four local groups to help with their fundraising: Friends of Kailua Library, Windward Arts Council, Windward Spouse Abuse Shelter and United Cerebral Palsy.
Operating out of the Kailua Intermediate School campus, the Windward Clubhouse first opened in 2006 and currently serves more than 500 area children ages 7 to 17 years old with a variety of after-school, weekend and summer programs.
