‘Urinetown’ Musical In Debut Run At Paliku
Hawaii Education for the Arts (HEARTS) will presents the Tony Award-winning satirical comedy Urinetown: The Musical next week in Paliku Theatre at Windward Community College, bringing a reality check to those messages about preserving our natural resources.
The Broadway musical will be staged at 7 p.m. Jan. 10-12 with a 2 p.m. matinee Jan. 12. Tickets range from $20 to $10 and can be reserved at 741-2787 or at showtix4u.com.
Urinetown is billed as “a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love and revolution at a time when water is worth its weight in gold.” Water is in very short supply following a long dought in this Gotham-like city, leading the government to enforce a ban on private toilets. A company charges admission to the public johns. A revolution ensues.
The nonprofit HEARTS is now in its 10th year of sponsoring choirs, theater production and dance classes for Windward youths. It also puts on three shows a year at Paliku Theatre.
