Massage Therapist Reaching Out To Aching Canoe Paddlers

Hale ‘e pa nui, a therapeutic massage and body-work service, recently opened in Kaneohe, specializing in accessible and ongoing wellness plans for clients.

As medical and health issues multiply internationally, so do reasons for massage and therapeutic visits, which Hale ‘e pa nui founder and licensed massage therapist Arnaud Adam saw as a perfect opportunity to offer his services to the Windward Oahu community. “This growing trend seen across the country also holds true in Hawaii,” he said, “where more island residents want to reduce pain without the need for pharmaceuticals and surgeries, when it is possible to do so.

“More and more research is revealing just how beneficial massage therapy can be for a wide array of health conditions.”

Originally from France, Adam said he’s always been drawn to alternative approaches to medicine.

As a young boy he received herbal remedies for asthma. And in 2009, after years working in sales and customer service, Adam turned back to alternative medicine and enrolled at the Whatcom Community College’s Massage Practitioner program in Bellingham, Wash. He graduated this year from Hawaii Healing Arts College in Kailua.

An avid paddler, Adam has worked extensively on massage therapy in the paddling community. He continues to support the Keahiakahoe Canoe Club men’s crew and crossed the Kaiwi Channel during this year’s Molokai Hoe as the official crew massage therapist.

“It takes repeated visits to effectively work out chronic pain that took years to build in a person’s body,” Adam added. “Our goal is to offer pricing that makes it possible for an individual to receive frequent treatment.”
