HPU Tryouts Set For ‘The Good Doctor’

Hawaii Pacific University’s drama department will hold auditions this weekend for its upcoming Neil Simon play, The Good Doctor, which will be staged from Nov. 2 to Dec. 2 in the Windward campus’ Paul and Vi Loo Theater.

Directed by Joyce Maltby, Simon’s work is a Chekhovian journey through the mind of a storyteller as he (Chekhov) unfolds a series of 11 humorous sketches, ranging in topic from prostitution to dentistry. Roles are open for a cast of five to 13 adult actors of all ages.

Scripts are available at the downtown and Hawaii Loa campuses, and tryouts are set for 7 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to noon Saturday and 9 a.m. to noon Sunday. For details, call 254-0853.
