KBPA Lauds Scholars, Sets Kanikapila Nov. 3
The Kaimuki Business and Professional Association recently awarded three $1,000 college scholarships to area students following an application and interview process.
The following recipients, all 2012 high school graduates, “have demonstrated a strong commitment to community and school involvement and a dedication to academic achievement,” the club stated.
They are: • David Pimental of Saint Louis School, who will attend Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. • Trisha Ishikawa of Kaimuki High, who will attend Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri. • Jennifer Nishida of Sacred Hearts Academy, who will attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre-Haute, Indiana.
The KBPA scholarship fund is supported by the group’s annual Celebrate Kaimuki Kanikapila, a street festival that will be held Nov. 3 of this year.
At its annual meeting earlier this summer, KBPA also recognized 40-year member Barbara Marumoto for her participation and support of the association, especially during her tenure in the state House of Representatives. Marumoto in turn presented a House certificate to KBPA president Dan Yokoo, recognizing the service of the 66-year-old civic organization.
