Drive Benefits Weed And Seed
A recycling drive for the Weed and Seed programs is on for 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 15 at Waipahu Intermediate School, adding a canned food drive for Hawaii Foodbank, as well as accepting “an unlimited number” of residential and commercial computers and e-waste, one TV set per car and a document shredding service.
The shredding service accepts one box for free, second and third boxes are $5 each.
Going Green drive #12, coordinated by Rene Mansho, welcomes all kinds of metal, appliances, HI-5 containers, cooking oil, cell phones, printer cartridges, newspapers, cardboard egg cartons and drink trays, phone books, corrugated cardboard, magazines, plastic bags and caps, batteries, propane tanks, fire extinguishers, propane tanks (call first), air conditioners, green waste, pet food and supplies, prom dresses, business suits, plastic playground equipment, Boogie boards, football helmets and white socks for Afghanistan.
Goodwill and Lions clubs will make use of any donated clothing, household items, hearing aids and eyeglasses. Participants also can swap incandescent light bulbs for CFLs.
