DHT Musical Tryouts Aug. 12, 13

Diamond Head Theatre will hold tryouts for its fall musical, Funny Girl, at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 and 13 at its rehearsal hall on Makapuu Avenue.

The film version of the play launched Barbra Streisand’s career as she portrayed stage and screen star Fanny Brice and her rocky relationship with entrepreneur and gambler Nick Arnstein. The DHT curtain will go up on the stage production Sept. 21 through Oct. 7 — the theater’s

first musical of the 2012-2013 season. Those auditioning should bring their own sheet music, up-tempo or ballad, and be prepared to sing to an accompanist provided by the theater.
