Workshop Digs Into Farming
The Oahu Resource Conservation and Development Council’s series of farmer workshops will conclude at Otsuji Farm in Hawaii Kai, from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 16.
Each of the workshops featured talk-story sessions with master farmers and a tour of farm operations, presentations on related topics and resource materials.
Fees and one-week advanced registration are required at the council’s website, oahurcd.org.
Direct marketing is the topic at Otsuji Farm, with Ed and Jonas Otsuji. Participants will learn about the process of bringing food to market through the use of community-supported agriculture programs, farm- ers markets and other direct marketing techniques, plus they get to bring home a box of fresh veggies. Speakers are Lisa Asagi of Farm Bureau Farmers Markets and Jill Nordby of Holoholo General Store. Fee is $15 including veggie box.

Additional workshops were held earlier at Nalo Farms in Waimanalo, Mari’s Gardens in Mililani, Reppun taro farm in Waiahole and Matsuda Farms in Kahuku.
