Kimo’s Vegas
WELCOME TO Kimo’s Vegas… the Players Edge!
THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE TV show will be on location in Las Vegas. Taping is happening the last week of July and the first few days of August. The Venetian and Palazzo, which hosts the show, has a special package that includes a room and tickets to be in the audience. Or you can chance ’em and apply for tickets at WheelOfFortune.com/LasVegas.
SEIFU D walked into the Palms and walked out a multi-millionaire when the Wheel of Fortune slot machine bestowed its $3.1 million jackpot upon him. When he won, he told officials he planned to share the money with his family … Hey, cuz, long time!
BRINGING HOME the bacon … The total prize pool for the 2013 WSOP Main Event is $59,788,800. The nine players on the final table will take home between $8,359,531 (first place) and $733,224 (ninth place).
OR IF YOU prefer your bacon eat-in, check out Vosges Haut-Chocolat in the Caesars Palace Forum Shops. The boutique (considered a chocolate lounge by the haute) combines two of my favorite foods: chocolate and bacon. There’s Mo’s milk or dark chocolate and bacon bars, bacon caramel toffees, bacon truffles, even a bacon chocolate chip pancake mix. For those who like their chocolate without a bacon shooter, there’s gluten-free, sugar-free, organic and vegan chocolate. Or perhaps your palate favors chilies, cheese, salt, beer or champagne chocolates. Not going to Vegas and need your chocolate fix? Then order Haut-Chocolat online at VosgesChocolate.com.
THERE’S NO such thing as a free lunch, and in Las Vegas it’s getting even more difficult to get something for nothing on Fremont Street … The Golden Nugget now is charging guests a FSE fee, not to be confused with the resort fees charged by Strip casinos for things like Internet, spa access and the local newspaper. This fee is the first time ever a Downtown hotel tries to recoup some of the kala it spends on the free outdoor attraction that’s known as The Fremont Street Experience. Ten Downtown hotels fund the entertainment, cleaning, maintenance and management of the FSE including Binion’s, the California, Fremont, Four Queens, Golden Gate, Lady Luck, the Las Vegas Club, Main Street Station and the D. PAULA DEEN’S bad luck continues … Caesars Entertainment Corp. announced that it has reached a mutual agreement not to renew its deal with the celebrity chef and will rebrand the eateries bearing her name.
THAT’S EASY FOR you to say … Sheldon Adelson, chairman and chief executive officer of the Las Vegas Sands Corp., the world’s largest casino company, says, “Younger people, people who can’t afford it, can gamble while they’re on a subway or a bus or a passenger in a car, or while they’re lying in bed in their birthday suits on their smart-phone or on their iPad. What is the purpose of putting a casino on everybody’s kitchen table?” Well, if it were my online casino on everyone’s table, I’d think the purpose would be to make me rich.
IF YOU THINK the joy is in the making, Bellagio’s Tuscany Kitchen has a culinary demo every month. The two-hour classes with one of the resort’s chefs will teach you how to make a three-course meal and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Chicken and the Chef class is up next Aug. 28. Book the $95 experience online at bellagio.com or call (866) 406-7117.
