Jr. Company Bringing In Ballet Stars
Hawaii State Ballet Junior Company will feature talented guest artists in its current production of Nutcracker at Mamiya Theatre.
Coming from the Milwaukee Ballet for the classic event is Kaimuki native Erica Wong, who trained for 13 years with Hawaii State Ballet and won first place in the 2010 American Ballet Competition. Wong will dance in Waltz of the Flowers. Two standouts from Columbia Classical Ballet in South Carolina are Japan-trained Sayaka Akiyama, who dances the lead role of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Budapest native Zoltan Boros as the Sugar Plum’s Cavalier.
John Landovsky directs the show.
Remaining performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
